What to do by layover length

Under 4 hours: stay in the airport

  • Jewel Changi, with the HSBC Rain Vortex indoor waterfall, is landside, so you must clear immigration to visit.
  • Terminals have gardens and free entertainment areas airside.

4 to 8 hours

A short city visit can work if your passport allows entry. Allow about 60 minutes round trip, plus immigration both ways and at least 2 hours before departure to get back through security.

8 hours or more: leave the airport

MRT from Changi Airport station to the city centre, about 30 to 40 minutes with a change; a taxi is about 20 to 30 minutes.

Transit and visa basics
